Joey Breaux

Agriculture Environmental Specialist, Louisiana Dept. of Agriculture & Forestry/Office of Soil & Water Conservation

How long have you been a WET coordinator? 16 years ( since ’98)

What’s your favorite thing about doing WET workshops? Meeting people, sharing information about natural resources, helping educators to learn more about something they’re interested in.

Give a quote from a recent workshop. “This workshop is a happy place!”

Can you share a funny story related to WET activities? Some of the "Sum of the Parts" bayou-side developments are always amusing, but the best is when a kid pulled a straw and drank the “polluted” Enviroscape water.

What is your favorite WET activity? Probably "Sum of the Parts", with "Color Me a Watershed" a close second.

Tell us about a promotion, grant award, press, or other recognition you’ve received in the last few months. Recently received a NFWF grant though the LA Assoc. of Conservation Districts to install a series of floating islands as a means of coastal wetland restoration in the SE LA deltaic plain, also received my 20-year length of service award last year.

Any life changes to share? Kids, marriage, new home, other? Nothing new really, but I do plan to get another dog soon.

Something we don’t know about you…Y’all know me too well already, ha.
