Nestlé Waters North America

“Nestlé Waters North America’s support has been cornerstone to Project WET's success. The company’s commitment extends beyond its financial support to the volunteerism of its employees, who take a personal interest in helping children, teachers, schools and communities understand water. I see this as the reflection of a company that truly cares about the future of our children and water resources.”
- Dennis Nelson, President and CEO, Project WET Foundation

It was 1992.  The community relations manager for Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA)’s Poland Spring plant was searching for an innovative way to empower NWNA employees to:

  • become involved with and give back to the local community.
  • strategically positioning the company’s brand.

The answer was Project WET.

As a result of management’s vision and positive outcomes in Poland Springs, in 1997, NWNA became the first official sponsor of Project WET USA.  The funding helped support and grow Project WET in the U.S.

In 2004, NWNA’s parent company, Nestlé Waters Management and Technology, became a founding global sponsor of the Project WET Foundation.

Because of NWNA management’s vision and commitment, NWNA has enabled Project WET to:

  • reach hundreds of thousands of teachers and millions of students with water education.
  • positively affect the management and protection of the world’s most precious resource – water.

Impact of Sponsorship
Nestlé Waters North America has enabled Project WET to:

  • train 340,000 educators through six-hour workshops using its “train-the-trainer” network.
  • reach more than three million children with water education.
  • launch Make a Splash with Project WET water festivals, reaching millions of students and teachers with lessons in water education.
  • award $20,000 to local communities for community improvement grants through the Every Drop Counts grant program.
  • publish multiple Kids In Discovery series (KIDs) activity booklets.
  • expand the program globally.
  • become a best-in-class global water education program.

Project WET has helped NWNA:

  • establish relationships with the non-governmental organizations and agencies in its network.
  • build relationships within its plant communities.
  • secure a presence at global water events.
  • train its employees in water education.
  • empower its employees to become involved in their communities.
  • interact with major customers on sustainability issues.
  • educate consumers.
