As a Senior Education Advisor for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Africa Bureau within the Office of Sustainability, Education Division, Joe Kitts manages a portfolio with close to $20 million dollars in annual program budget and has oversight for 10 of the 19 activities in the Division. Mr. Kitts has the lead role in the development of partnerships and collaboration with key strategic partners including other U.S. government agencies, Congress, the White House, multilateral organizations, other donors, the private sector and foundations and African regional bodies. With broad oversight responsibility for education programming in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Rwanda, Sudan and Djibouti, Mr. Kitts conceives and recommends entrepreneurial and innovative projects and promotes further exploration of promising new approaches. He also guides and mentors junior and mid-career education officers in the Africa region. Mr. Kitts holds degrees from the University of Wyoming and California Polytechnic State University.
Joe Kitts joined the Project WET Foundation Board of Directors in 2011.
