Urban Waters

Goal

To inform and educate young people about managing water in a city.

Preliminary list of topics includes:

  1. municipal water challenges.
  2. source water.
  3. water treatment (quantity and quality requirements).
  4. water users/demands.
  5. infrastructure/distribution and collection (water works).
  6. financial considerations (citywide, businesses, and individual).
  7. risk management for water disasters (scarcity/drought and excess/floods).
  8. wastewater collection and treatment.
  9. solid-waste management (collection and disposal).
  10. management tools (conservation, storm water and laws and regulations).
