Everglades

The Everglades is a place, a region, a watershed, an ecosystem. It is the mirrored glint of sunlight on shallow water that is moving slowly, below a great sweep of saw grass, towards the sea. Standing knee deep in a teeming stew of water and periphyton (fibrous mats of blue green material), your feet hold in the mucky grip of bottom marl, you are unaware of the profusion of microscopic organisms swarming about your legs. Above, below, and all about are the children of the river. A gathering of birds, mosquitoes, dragonflies, fish, countless amphibians, and thousands of other creatures, this is a truly unique environment.
