The Watercourse and International Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), in collaboration with educators from throughout the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo basin, announce the publication of Discover a Watershed: The Rio Grande/Rio Bravo Reference and Activity Guide. This guide is part of the Discover a Watershed Series, which specializes in the publication of watershed-based educational materials. Comprised of a detailed reference section and a set of high-quality learning activities that are teacher-tested and tailored to the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo watershed, this Guide is ideal for formal and non-formal educators. Topics include: natural and human history, hydrology of the basin, plant and animal communities, history, culture, traditions and celebrations, comparisons of U.S., Mexico, and joint water management systems, priority issues and concerns, basin economy, and future scenarios. Special attention has been given to the presentation of non-biased and scientifically accurate information.

Created through an international effort, which involved a team of 75 educators and water managers from Mexico and the United States, the Guide will be available in English and Spanish and will be distributed in Mexico and the United States. Discover a Watershed: The Rio Grande/Rio Bravo Reference and Activity Guide provides a comprehensive and contemporary exploration of the challenges and opportunities of this great international watershed.

As Dennis Nelson, executive director of the Watercourse states, "Discover a Watershed: The Rio Grande/Rio Bravo is for anyone interested in learning about water resources topics associated with the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo watershed." Justin Howe, a team member of the Discover a Watershed Series states that, "Discover a Watershed: The Rio Grande/Rio Bravo is an important work, as it serves as a bridge between individuals and nations, highlighting the inextricable connectivity that results from their mutual reliance on the river and the water it provides."

The Discover a Watershed Series, a project of International Project WET, is headquartered at Montana State University. For more information, please contact the Discover a Watershed Series project office at (406) 994-5392 or by email at discoverawatershed@montana.edu.
