The World Water Forum is the main international event on water. Its purpose is to enable multi-stakeholder participation and dialogue to influence water policy making at a global level.
For the first time, education is a major focus of the Forum. Project WET International and the Mexican Institute of Water Technology have been asked to lead the education activities taking place at the Forum. Four main education components are part of the forum:The Global Water Education Village brings together 29 programs from 18 countries and is a space for them to present their successful water education programs and to build their networks. The Children’s Water School is a fun and interactive setting where children will use hands-on activities to learn about the importance of water resources. A Special Session on Water Education for Children and Youth will highlight six water education programs, focusing on what has made them successful and how they can be implemented in other settings. The 2nd Children’s World Water forum will gather 100 children from communities around the world to present local action projects, developed by the children that have a positive impact on water in their community. The best five local action projects will be selected by the children for presentation to the ministerial conference that is part of the World Water Forum. |
